Under her leadership, The Praxis Project raised more than $20 million for advocacy organizations working in communities of color and provided training and technical assistance to hundreds of organization and public agencies nationwide. Previously, Makani served as the founder and executive director of The Praxis Project, a nonprofit organization helping communities use media and policy advocacy to advance health justice. Imani Dinish is a proud native of Seattle, Washington’s Central District. These experiences allow her to understand gaps within the healthcare industry, determine how they translate to the real lives of individuals and the well-being of the community and offer creative suggestions for improvement. This core pillar of the community was cemented by experiences as a certified life coach and Facilitator of the Strengthening Families Program in partnership with Seattle University, interacting with families from all walks of life. she’s learned how truly impactful community outreach programs can be. As a mother of a teenager, Januarie recognizes the challenges of trying to make your mark on your family while balancing other responsibilities. In 2021, Januarie founded a nonprofit, SpeakLife Tribe, missioned to encourage the well-being and health of the family by creating safe spaces for parents to share stories of growth and gratitude. Her methodology is based on the Lean Six Sigma approach, which is used for established organizations needing updated processes. Also assisted startups with project-based tasking and workflows. As a revenue cycle consultant, She has helped companies with the streamlining of operations and finance. During her career, she has spent her time asking the question “Why?” and never quite received a valid response. As a Healthcare Administrator, she has expertise as a Revenue Cycle Consultant and Healthcare Technology Analyst. Her 20 years of experience in healthcare has given her a unique perspective on supporting both individuals and organizations in the healthcare world.
